OUTWARD / INWARD

WELCOME

Learn about the buildings and history you can spot from the upper deck of London’s 94 bus. If you are taking the trip online you are equally welcome. We offer an Outward Tour (from Piccadilly Circus to Acton Green) and an Inward Tour from Acton Green to Piccadilly Circus.

CONTINUITY & CHANGE

As examples of continuity, Speaker’s Corner has its roots in the public speeches made by those, in the 16th century, who were about to be hanged at Tyburn Tree. And Holland Park Avenue originated as a Roman road.

That continuity sits alongside restless change. The opening of the Royal Parks to the public in the 17th century. The toll roads of the 18th century. The great expansion of London in the 19th century. And new kinds of movement - bus, underground, car, and lift - gathering force in the 20th century.

NEW TO YOU

You will, we hope, learn things that are new to you. That Eros is made of aluminium. That the timbers on the front of Libertys came from dismantled wooden warships. That the 1851 Crystal Palace was 1851 feet long. That it took a workforce of 120,000 to build the 1908 exhibition at White City.
